Trust the Science

Whether or not you found wisdom in government-mandated closures, lockdowns, or mask mandates, the supposed underlying motive behind such actions was to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and protect the most vulnerable in our society.
Due to a combination of vaccines and herd immunity, rates of transmission and death have declined dramatically over the last six months and much of the United States is finally back open and returning to normal. Unfortunately, many on the left would prefer Americans to remain in a perpetual state of fear, so they can justify permanent control over our personal lives and large-scale systemic changes to our political system and economy.
Studies indicate that if an individual is fully vaccinated, they no longer face any meaningful risk for serious illness or death resulting from Covid-19, and are not spreading the virus among their community. The cautious Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has acknowledged this by relaxing mask guidelines for full-vaccinated individuals in mid-May.
Regardless of your opinion on the seriousness of COVID-19 or the necessity of being vaccinated, every adult in America has been eligible to receive the vaccine since April, and generally speaking, there has been more than sufficient supply to meet demand. Everyone unvaccinated at this point has made a personal decision not to do so, a decision that should be respected, but should not impact the reopening of our society.
Unfortunately, the so-called "party of science," is ignoring the data and attempting to move us backwards with the emergence of every new variant of COVID-19. There has been considerable pushback to the CDC's updated guidelines on masks as leftists continue to wear them as a form of virtue signaling to ensure they are not confused with Republicans. Los Angeles County is even going so far as to reinstate its mask mandate for indoor public spaces -- whether individuals are vaccinated or not.
If you believe in science, if you believe vaccinations work, or if you believe that we must eventually return to normal, we cannot allow this to stand. The data clearly shows that if you have been vaccinated, you are no longer at risk. It is time we start acting like it.
If you are worried about those among us who have chosen to remain unvaccinated, don't. Individual liberty and personal responsibility are backbone principles in this country, and those individuals have made a personal decision after weighing their age, level of risk, and other comorbidities. At this point, the only person their lack of vaccination can impact is the person themself and others who have made the same personal decision.
Like the flu, COVID-19 is here to stay. We have never shutdown society or put in place mask mandates because a large portion of our population didn’t receive their annual flu shot. If we ever want to return to normal, we must trust the science and continue moving forward with reopening America. We must stop allowing the media and self-interested leftists from instilling fear in the American people, and we must go back to living our lives.
